The Radical Blogger is Back

By Les Scammell, November 11, 2007 11:10 am

After a short break I am back again with another set of blog sites that I have visited and reviewed. Over the last couple of days I have been busy putting together content for this site, my other blog Just 4 Families and a third site that I am preparing – more on that another day.

I have also decided to go down the road of pay per post to raise funds to pay for the upkeep of my online activities. We shall see what happens there. The adsense units are not working and I may just remove them altogether. None of the other ad units are working either. After three months I think I have in total about 300, not dollars, cents – at $1 per month it isn’t working. If you have any ideas for monetizing the site that will return at least more than $1 per month please let me know. I don’t mind having paid link ads – I am not really concerned about PR.

Today’s list is quite diverse although I am surprised at how many are blogger sites – not planned that way either. I am working on providing free hosting – using your own domain name – you will need to pay to register that – for anyone who wants to get away from blogger or wordpress. The free hosting includes email accounts, cPanel, Fantastico and blog resources such as Wordpress and drupal. If you think you are interested let me know.

Here is todays list:

FIREWALKER The Thin Red Line capitaL eLs
Such Simple Pleasures Poopsies Money News – My Financial History
Tetsujin’s Blog Will Taft . com Globally Minded
Who is You Favourite Celebrity

My best site for the day? Will Taft . com. Well worth a visit.

Until next time, beware the Radical Blogger.

Good luck with PPP, it’s been great for me. I also do blogsvertise, but they don’t have too many opps available. Adsense is something of a joke, I’ve made 11 cents in about 2 months. Can’t get too far on that. :-D

Haven’t tried PPP only their affiliates. Well adsense is doing better on mine. The secret of it is you must have enough traffic to burst it up. Good Luck on your site :D

thanks for the rave review. I tried to sign up with PPP but was not old enough at the time and I am just not sure if I want to do paid posts.

I think the adsense thing only works if people who come to your site are actually looking for something specific. For example, if I am looking for widgets, hacks, templates, and other blog stuff, I’ll click on any ad that might show me something new or interesting.

I have a picture blog, and if someone is surfing for pictures for a specific purpose, or if they are bored… probably the ads will get clicked…. If they came because they love the site, and are curious about what the heck got posted today, chances are that the pictures will get looked at, and no ads will get clicked.

On my other blogs, where people come specifically to read my content, the ads don’t get clicked at all. Which is something I also do … I get single minded – I read the content, leave a comment if I feel inclined, and that’s about it.

Also, if you are attracting readers through Blog Catalog and other blog networks, what happens is people are mainly interested in promoting themselves. They visit, and comment so that you will see that they were there, and then they move on to the next blog and the next and the next and the next…

And if you are trying to visit as many blogs as possible, taking time out to visit adsense links is out of the question, and going on a shopping spree – who has time for that when you are busily surfing a gagillion blogs? Sometimes, those people will really like your content, and they might subscribe. That’s what I do, if I see a blog that has a lot of interesting stuff, I subscribe to their feed and visit them via email – or on my home page. Whic, of course means that now none of the ads will even be seen by me.
