Radical Blogger gets his hands dirty

By Les Scammell, December 28, 2007 1:30 am

Those who have visited me regularly over the last three months will know that I keep tweeking, changing and re-tweeking my blog pages all the time. I really do like this theme, however I seem to have this fascination with taking the page to edges. I really don’t like the one inch margin that some themes have. I have been wanting to get in and see about changing it for while now. Today I did.

I had a really good look at the various files attached to the theme, particularly the CSS file. The CSS file for this theme is extremely well laid out with headings for each section – this made my job a lot easier. The style sheet and overall design was also very easy to understand. Where I had entered with trepidation, I left with a big smile on my face and a very satisfied feeling.

In case you haven’t noticed, the sidebars now extend to almost the edge of the screen. I have also widened the sidebars a little to fit some of the widgets. I was also able to fully justify the content. The overall feel of the blog now – from my perspective – is a much more open and easier to see. A side benefit is that, I hope, I have solved an issue I had where the blog would not load properly in Internet Explorer. It now seems to be okay.

I would appreciate any feedback if you have noticed any difference. If you use Internet Explorer or a browser other than Firefox, please let me know how the page looks in your browser.
