Site Name: PERIPHERAL VISION – Inner Sights
Site URL: http://www.innersights.blogspot.com/ Genre: Photo Blog |
Look and Feel:
Very attractive two column photoblog. Single side bar to the right that is a little cluttered. Page is fairly slow to load.
Content:
Describing this as a photoblog is probably not doing it justice as it includes abstract art and is focused as much on the spiritual aspect of photography and art as it is on the photographs themselves. Photos and art are fabulous and the accompanying text both thought provoking and appropriate.
Ease of Use:
Slow to load and the sidebar is a little busy. The content, which is the most important, is excellent with well placed links and post info at bottom of post. Subscription services, both email and RSS are conveniently placed near the top of the sidebar.
Suggestions:
My first impression after looking at the site is that a) the page is far to long, b) the sidebars to cluttered and c) why a blogspot blog?
I notice the site has an attached dot com so I would probably host the blog under that with either a subdomain: blog.domain.com or directory: domain.com/blog – makes blog management and choice of platforms easier and of course puts the dot com name as the center of focus. Third party blog platforms can be a problem in the long term.
The sidebars just need a little housekeeping. It is often a good idea to take a day, go through the sidebar and decide what is working and what isn’t, what should be kept and what can go. Presentation is another issue. There is adequate spacing around the various banners and widgets, however I would look to possibly center them. When you have different sized banners and widgets it can look untidy one under the other – centering them makes it look a little cleaner. Finally, organizing them; most important to least important.
Page length – Several options. You can either trim posts (using more command if available) or limit the number of posts on the front page. I prefer the more command – use a suitable teaser to encourage a click through to the articles page.
Conclusion:
Despite the criticisms above, this is a really nice blog to visit. The photos, the artwork and the content is great. The page is very pleasant on the eye, the color scheme doesn’t take you away from the content. I enjoyed my visit and will certainly add it to my regular circuit of blogs to visit. Rating 9/10

Thank you for your review of my blog. I don’t know HTML, but I guess I’d better learn some so I can center widgets and banners in my sidebar. I will also shorten the page. Thanks for the feedback and your time!
Happy New Year! (I’ve been away, so I’m just “catching up” on the blogosphere now….)
