November 08 – Clinton-Obama v’s McCain-Huckabee
Now I know I am Australian and what I know about US politics you could write on the head of a match. I do read the newspapers and online journals and I do listen to the radio/tv.
I have already read one report that describes McCain and Huckabee as ‘frenemies’. It seems to me that if they do have respect for one another then once one of them looks like winning the Republican nomination then it stands to reason that the other be considered for the role of ‘running mate’.
From what I have seen and heard, they compliment each other in many ways and could possibly prove to be quite attractive to the US public.
On Democrat side of things, I don’t believe you could call the Clinton-Obama relationship as being ‘frenebies’. However, there is that old saying that adversity creates strange bed-fellows (not that I could see these two jumping in to bed together, this is Hilary Clinton we are talking about, not Bill). However if you think about it, the combination of Clinton and Obama could make a very powerful team, each bringing different voting masses to their cause.
And what a novel result if they won. I see Clinton being the Democrats nomination with Obama a close second. That would make for a lot of firsts in Washington. The first women president. The first wife of a former president and the first African-American as Vice-President.
So November 08 – its Clinton and Obama taking on McCain and Huckabee. This will be the most interesting Presidential race for many, many years.
Who says I know nothing about US politics – I know just enough to make a fool of myself.
