Entre Card - A Radical Blog Review - Part II

Yesterday I reviewed some components of Entre Card that I thought were the positives and negatives. Today I will go through how successful this campaign has been. Before continuing I am not going to go through what ads were miserable failures, and there were a lot of them. I am only going to go through those that were a fabulous success - and there were a few of them.

Advertising through Entre Card is no different to advertising in magazines. You will not gain much success advertising marketing concepts on a parenting site, you will get some interest, but not buckets. The other observation I make is that Entre Card design is so very important. I have four designs. One for my site Just 4 Families. Three for this site, my trademark photo, another advertising the 10,000 EC competition and the third advertising my 1000 Blogs Against Whaling campaign.

You would not believe which of the last three was most successful - you guessed it - people just seem to love my face (well I am a lovable character after all). My photo card was more successful to the tune of 2 to 1 - I received twice as many visitors using that card compared to the other two - so the card design does matter.

So which campaigns where most successful. First, my top dropper here is Joan Joyce who I think must drop just about every day - many thanks.

My most successful campaign was with Hulag where I received 112 visitors for just over 300 credits - They must be performing well as they are now over 400 credits to advertise and fully booked. Close up was Thin Red Line with just over 100 visits for around 230 credits. They are still around the 230 credits and fully booked. They certainly represented great value.

The third best was the Realtor with 100 visits for 300 credits. More amazing, when I advertised my Just 4 Families site on this web I received just over 200 visits from the the one placement - I was floored at that result. Other notable mentions include one of my favorite blogs - One Quart Low which delivered over sixty visitors for 150 credits, thankfully an Aussie blog in Our Great Southern Land which provided 40 visitors for 100 credits. Biyahilo provided 80 visitors for 250 credits, Web Investigator was a bit of a mystery with 70 visitors for 200 credits the first time around but only 10 visitors for the same 200 credits the second time around - I had however changed my ad design so it will be interesting to see what numbers I get going back to the old design.

The Girlie Geek came up with 60 visitors for 260 credits and Site Hoppin with 60visitors for 290 credits. A quick summary shows that getting six of these sites on the one day will cost around 1500 credits and return just over 400 visitors. That is almost4 credits per visitor.

Most of these sites are fully booked and a little dearer now. My recommendation is to do what I did. Spend a couple of days watching those that you think will do well on your site. If they are improving in price and days to wait, you know they are getting traffic. Jump on them before they become full booked and their price goes through the roof. I read with interest how some bloggers have paid a lot for sites like John Chow only to receive around 50 or 60 visitors. Shop around and find those that on the improve and grab them while you can.

Tomorrow I will wrap up this Entre Card series with a final look at what I think works and what I thinks suks and what recommendations I would make to improve the whole program. In the mean time, tell us which campaigns have really worked well for you.

It depends on the readers of the blog you’re advertising on. Secondly, you cannot and I repeat you cannot rely on the “statistics” since the clicks can be gamed. I figured out one secret- changing your badge once in a while does work. I also think your ad ran during some of the downtime with Amazon’s coding-this may account for lower numbers.

Thanks for the mention Les…I guess 60 for 150 isn’t too bad. Another factor to potentially consider is the day in which your ad. is up. I know I’m more of a weekend warrior these days so I’m much more active Friday through Sunday than the other days…Peace……..T
