  1. Just coming by to say HII and that is true i rarely visit the blogs i subscribe to… thats why i didnt notice you had changed template!!! love the blue-ish look!!! keep on doing a great job!!

  2. Mind? I’ve just been quoted!! Hot-diggity! ;) You can quote me anytime Les (with credits of course)!

As far as subscribing, I think you’ve hit the nail on the head as to why I haven’t followed this trend. To this day, I do not subscribe to a single blog I read. Not because I don’t want to help them, but because I prefer to visit their site and click around. I prefer to read someone’s words in the environment they have picked out themselves… kind of like virtually visiting someone’s home and having a cup of coffee with an old friend – but in the comfort of my own.

  3. Ok Les, you pointed out something in the first section of this post about the “Pro’s ” being around at the right time and that is why they are big. 2 to 4 years ago there was around 50mil blogs, today there are over 100mil blogs. Does that mean the big guys get bigger or do you think people are just going to get tired of them and move on to newer blogs with a fresh look which would lead the way to guys like you and me for tomorrow.

We (and I mean you and I) are just really getting rolling with our blogs. The biggest problem we face is gettting our names out. Our content is great and I bet if we both claimed to be SEO experts our readerships would be 5 times as big, but then again you nor I want to lie and fill our readers full of crap. And the people who are stuck on those blogs will one day wake up and do a search for something new and find us.

I know I have a great stand piont on my blog Feed Flare, and Tool Belt Tips as well when it starts in the next few weeks. (oh BTW Darren from Problogger likes Feed Flare and why I blog) We just have to sit back and ride the wave and we people se we are not leaving they will , stop, look and listen simply because we have lasted while so many others have fallen.

And regarding comments on our blogs. ProBlogger has 44k in readers and yesterdays post brought in around 35 comments or so the last time I checked. I think with those stats from a blogger who makes 250k a year….you and I are not doing to bad at all.

  4. Good post! It is actually nice to see someone take comments to heart, think about them and then give us commentators feedback. Thanks!

  5. Hey Les. Great followup post. I should have differentiated on the business idea. My meaning wasn’t that all business bloggers are self-centered and do not care beyond making a buck…that would be bad business. Internet marketing business types on the other hand do seem to be about that as far as I can relate. One reason why everyone and their cat does the kinds of crap digital products they do (ebooks and the like) is because this was a serious pitch to every noob marketer. Create your little digital download, grab what cash ya can off it, and then set up another one. IN other words…simply get suckers to buy and move on with something else and get new suckers to buy. One of my complaints about the internet marketing crowd is that most are NOT business people in the classic sense of the term. They are hit and run marketers who could care less if you get in their way again….they’ll hit and run all over again ad infinitum if they are allowed to. I should have clarified that some. True business bloggers are true business types first and foremost, who won’t by and large sell out today and care not about what tomorrow holds.

  6. I’ve been away during this discussion but I am one of your subscribers and yes I do pretty much read yours and the other 115 bloggers in my bloglines read most of the time. Sometimes I skim if I’m short on time or have been away.

As for bloggers being self-centred. Sadly, I don’t think it’s bloggers. I think it’s human beings. Everyone is out there for what’s in it for them. Well, most people anyway. The blogging world seems to reflect human nature in a similar way.

  7. Sorry to say this, and I’ll go against other posters here, but I don’t think this article was that interesting. From what I read in this blog in other occasion, you can do much better than that…oh well, I wouldn’t be that surprise if this comment won’t be published :)

from the editor – your comment is most welcome but without the link :)
