WP Plugin - Stop Duplicate Content At Its Source
Duplicate content is a problem that affects every blog and you may be being penalised without being aware of it. This WordPress plugin will help to remove some of those duplicate content problems.
Do you place your posts in more than one category? If so, Google is reading your post more than once. In fact, place your post in three categories and Google reads the post three times, once for each category. First read - thats fine. Second read - hello - thats duplicate content. Third read - more duplicate content. Apply a penalty.
I know I have oversimplified the issue, but the process is fairly similar. SEO Logs has a plugin - Duplicate Content Cure - which helps to resolve the issue by changing the Robots Meta Tag in each of the categories.
Google will now follow and read the page but it will not index it. Therefore, you will not have any duplicate content problems and no duplicate content penalties.
On a side issue - I have been down with the flu the last week or so, hence no posts. Hopefully I am back to full speed - just need to re-feed the brain and get some stimulus there.

Hm… I do place my posts in more than one category usually… but now that wordpress 2.5 has implemented tags into each post I’ve been planning on changing that. Didn’t realise it affected search engine friendliness… thanks for the link!

Finally a plugin to save people time. I made a custom robots.txt file to do this, but it took a lot of work and thinking to get it right. For me it was worth it, since there are many other places I also exclude the bots from.
