Would You Do A Paid Review?

By , November 10, 2008 3:32 pm

Paid posts are becoming a big business for both bloggers and agencies that coordinate paid posts. They are also becoming more sophisticated as time goes by. You can, as a business owner, now surf many blogs selecting those that may suit your requirements and approach them for paid posts.

I have been approached a few times to do product reviews, that is, they send me the product and I write the review. I have ignored or denied the request in the past, however I now wonder if I have done myself a dis-service. Whilst not getting paid, I still received the products which is a form of payment.

Now, advertisers can view my blog and decide whether or not they want a review from me. This is a great idea since they are spending money, they should be selecting their advertisers.

Using a paid for post type of income makes sense. You have control over what you write and when you write it.

  1. can’t quite do this now, since my blog’s a poetry blog. :) but i would be open to the idea if i were to set up another blog. :)

  2. Really I would decide on a case by case basis. There are some products I feel wuold just not be something I would want to promote no matter how good they are. While there are others which might be interesting to give them a chance and have the opportunity to make the money at the same time.

I’d pay you to do a paid review in a heartbeat. Please email me and we can talk about what makes sense.

  4. What services are used for writing Review, or should I look for advertisers is? thanks

I´ve seen quite a few blogs which are opting in to this kind of advertising. I think it´s a pretty good idea… as you say, you get the product AND get paid and they get a review (hopefully good) on a really good blog, which will have high exposure. It´s a pretty brilliant idea!!

  6. Getting products for free in order to review them (and sometimes getting money on top of that) is a great way to make some extra money. Just be careful that it doesn’t become a “chore”.

I burned myself out taking on too many reviews at once, and now ignore all product inquiries.

  7. We should control the number of paid posts. Don’t make your readers run away!

  8. I think you have to be very careful, a review of something that compliments your own business or blog could be an assett – not sure about the fee, if it is unrelated then i don’t think it should be considered and if it is the fee should be big.
If it is related then probably an administration fee for your time and a trial of something you are interested in or can benefit you or your readers.
