Are you in the The Right Franchise Industry. It seems that oil prices are going up and down so much that perhaps buying into any franchise that involves petroleum based products could be a nightmare. The oil producing companies must find it difficult. World demand is only expected to go up by just over 1% in 2010 – you watch, it will go up by around 2-3%, there will be shortages because oil producers will only budget for a 1% increase, and oil prices will go through the roof yet again.
I sometimes wonder if it isn’t oil producers themselves that spin these figures just so they can justify underproduction and higher oil prices. In the meantime, with oil prices fluctuating so much, we are going to have to learn to cut costs when it comes to using oil based products. Transport is one area that does use a lot of oil. There are many areas where you can reduce costs, not always directly, but reduce costs never-the-less.
Working from home is one option of course. There are others. Using public transport, walking and even little things like arranging your own move when moving house. Self Service Moves Save a lot of money. They wont save anything when it comes to oil, but they will still save money. You can save on some fuel costs by sharing the load as well. Have a removalist move all the big items then stuff the rest inside your car. You are taking your car to the new house aren’t you? Load it up. You may get away with a smaller removalist van and with it lower costs.
I mentioned working from home. Why not? It has become quite fashionable again but this time around, rather than stuffing envelopes, or walking door-to-door, you can telecommute using your computer. If you have an interests in the health field, or have worked in the health area then it could be a perfect choice.

And the United States has a big shortage of oil refinery capacity. Any little problem with one of the few refineries, and they dn’t seem to build any new ones, and we have another shortage.
